In the 18th century pirates pillaged and plundered the Irish coast. It was an extremely male-dominated business until Anne Bonny appeared on the scene, and took the seas by storm. Bonny became the most famous female pirate in the world, and hails from our very own Kinsale.
Just like Bonny we don’t always play by the rules at Blacks, we write our own rulebook! We pride ourselves on our innovative approach to distilling, ignoring the mainstream trends and creating our own unique range of spirits, using quality ingredients and quirky flavour combinations. Wishing to honour and pay homage to the rebellious and free-spirited Bonny, we set about distilling Ireland’s first-ever rum.

Blacks Spiced Irish Rum
Blacks Spiced Irish Rum is the result of our first voyage into the world of rum. This small batch rum is distilled in Kinsale using high-grade sugar cane molasses, fermented and matured in oak casks, and tempered with seven carefully selected spices.
This spirit offers an amazingly complex experience. On the nose vanilla, butterscotch, cola, banana, coffee and spice demand your attention. Hints of orange, lime and ripe pears add a fresh fruity balance and exciting character. Moving to the palate, subtle notes of molasses, sherry, chipotle and hazelnut develop progressively into a Guatemalan coffee, cracked black pepper and oak finish.
Blacks Golden Rum
Our award-winning Blacks Golden Rum was next out of the stills. This is an incredible robust golden rum characterised by the finest single malt Irish whiskey barrels which they were matured in. These are the very same barrels which first aged our 12 year old Blacks Irish Whiskey.
On the nose you are transported to a dessert lovers heaven with aromas of butterscotch sauce, banoffee pie and vanilla maple syrup, teamed with underlying layers of candied fruit. Our smooth, rich toffee rum is velvet soft on the palate, boasting flavours of antique mahogany, caramel coated nuts and a fruity light to medium body.
