Pieces of Eight!
The Blacks Pieces of Eight Whiskey share gives you the chance to invest in Irish Whiskey, with a 1/8th share in a whiskey cask of your choice.
You can choose between Single Malt or Pot Still Whiskey, with a range of cask types to select from also.
Each 1/8 share will deliver between 30 to 50 bottles of premium Irish Whiskey, depending on your selected cask type and bottling strength.
A bespoke 1/8th cask head piece is created for each share with your personalised laser engraved inscription to identify your cask upon its maturation, and as a memorable keepsake.
As a Pieces of Eight club member you will also receive a 15% discount whenever you purchase from the Blacks online shop.

Pieces of eight were Spanish silver coins often associated with Pirate treasure. The silver coin was so named because it was worth eight reals and at one time had an eight stamped on it. To make change, people cut the coins into eight pieces and this historic practice inspired our new Pieces of Eight Whiskey cask share club.

Upon cask filling
To commemorate the beginning of your whiskey journey you will receive your personalised 1/ 8th cask head slice. This will be delivered directly to your door in a Blacks Distillery presentation box. You will also receive a small sample bottle of the new make spirit that your cask will be filled with!

2029 Whiskey Bottling
In 2029, eight years after your cask is filled and matures your whiskey will be bottled here in our distillery in Kinsale, Co.Cork.
Depending on the cask type and bottling strength you selected, you will receive 30 – 50 bottles of Irish whiskey. Your bottles will come with a custom label, as per your cask head inscription.
You will forever have a place in our Blacks family, and to mark this your cask head inscription will be added to a special wall display in our distillery.
Cask characteristics
Ex Rum
Our Rum casks are selected from the highest quality first fill Caribbean rum makers to impart sweet syrup, dark fruits, oak, caramel, vanilla flavours and aromas to the whiskey. The cask is 200 litres and your share will yield 40 bottles at 43% abv to you in 2029.
Ex Bourbon
Bourbon casks are selected from the highest quality first fill American bourbon makers to impart sweet, creamy caramel flavours and aromas to the whiskey. The cask is 200 litres and your share will yield 40 bottles at 43% abv to you in 2029.
Virgin Oak
Virgin Oak casks are freshly made specifically for us here at Blacks to our own unique specifications. These casks impart vanilla, cloves and caramel flavours and aromas to the whiskey. The cask is 200 litres, and your share will yield 40 bottles at abv to you in 2029.
Ex Oloroso Sherry
Oloroso Sherry casks impart deep, dark, nutty, dark ripe fruits flavours and aromas to the whiskey. The cask is 250 litres and your share will yield 50 bottles at 43% abv to you in 2029.
Ex PX Sherry
PX Sherry casks impart sweet, dark fruits, raisins, syrup flavours and aromas to the whiskey. The cask is 250 litres and your share will yield 50 bottles at 43% abv to you in 2029.
Ex Moscatel Sherry

The whiskey
Single Malt
Single Malt new-make spirit distilled from 100% Irish malted barley. A classic clean, smooth and bright Irish whiskey. The cask is filled at 63.5%.
Pot Still
Pot Still new-make spirit distilled from special blend malted barley, oats, rye and wheat for a slightly heavier style whiskey, with a distinctive spiciness. Pot Still whiskey is unique to Ireland. The cask is filled at 63.5%.
