We are thrilled to announce the launch of First Flight Single Malt, our very first whiskeys and a groundbreaking achievement for our distillery. This limited-edition release is not only the first-ever whiskey distilled in Kinsale, but it also represents an incredible milestone in our journey of passion and dedication to Irish whiskey.

From the moment these whiskeys emerged from their casks, we were blown away by their depth of flavour and exceptional quality. Each sip reflects the care, craftsmanship, and innovation we’ve poured into every step of the process.

First Flight Single Malt Whiskey

Triple Threat – Irish Whiskey- Three Cask Blend 40%

A striking Irish Whiskey aged in bourbon, sherry and virgin american oak casks. Fusing flavours of vanilla, toasted wood and honey like sweetness. This triple cask all-star embodies the best of all three!

Nose: Complex summer fruits cross paths with fresh cinnamon buns to greet the nose.

Palate: Initially spicy but quickly mellowed by notes of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla.

Finish: Medium length as lingering hints of dry fruit and caramelized sugar continue with an oak spice finish.

Maple Mayhem – Irish Whiskey – Maple Bourbon Cask 43%

A maniacal expression of Irish Whiskey aged in maple bourbon casks to give a sweet kiss of maple and vanilla. So pucker up, close your eyes and lean in for a sip. Non chill filtered and bottled at 43%

Nose : A sweet introduction as warm sugar notes with hints of smoke, vanilla, maple caramel and baked prunes demand your attention.

Palate: A smooth oily mouthfeel coats the cheeks as flavours of Maple coated nuts, cinnamon pancakes and spice develop further.

Finish: A medium finish as maple, oaky wood and smoke lingers

Black Smoke – Irish Whiskey – Heavy Peated 43%

A powerful Irish Whiskey bursting with rich peaty smoke and sweet oak. With a long lingering finish this distinctive Irish Whiskey is not for the faint hearted. Pull the pin on this smoke grenade and toss it back!

Nose: Smokey peatiness balanced by floral heather notes and hints of honey and oak.

Palate: Silky smooth with a toffee crisp like sweetness, followed by more complex aromas of malt and stoned fruit giving way to the intensifying full-bodied peat.

Finish : A long lasting finish with golden honey notes and deep peat coating across the mouth and palate.

Citrus Galaxy IPA Cask Irish Whiskey

We are so excited to introduce a whiskey that we have been working on for quite some time. Citrus Galaxy – an adventurous Irish Whiskey that’s out of this world! Aged in blacks IPA beer casks to give a wonderful zesty kick of galaxy hops. Pop the cork & get ready for lift off!

Nose – an exploration of orchard fruits bring sweet baked apple & pear skin notes to the nose of this whiskey. further stoned fruit notes and hints of rosewater follow soon after

Palate – a light zesty mouthfeel screaming all things galaxy hops moves aside to introduce delayed notes of caramel, liquorice and cloves.

Finish – a medium finish with notes of walnuts, malt dark chocolate and butterscotch

A World’s First!  Blacks 18 year old Irish Rum Cask Finish

We’d like to introduce you to a very special release that has been in the pipeline for quite some time. Something that has never been done as far as “Uisce beatha” can be remembered!

Creating the first ever Irish Rum is something we are immensely proud of here in Kinsale and when our second release “Blacks Golden Rum” took home the Gold Medal at the World Rum Awards last year, we knew it was time to do something innovative with the casks that previously held this liquid gold!

We searched high and low and finally found a limited amount of aged Single Malt Whiskey we knew would match up to the characteristics of these casks.

The result being, a World’s first for Irish Whiskey – an Irish Rum Cask Finish.

We’d now like to introduce you to the newest member of the Blacks Family – Blacks 18 year Old Single Malt – Irish Rum Cask Finish. The World’s first ever Irish Whiskey finished in an Irish Rum cask. A whiskey lover’s dream come true! Limited to 563 individually numbered bottles, each in its very own bespoke treasure chest style box.

This cask strength beauty comes in at 56% ABV and will transport you to a World never travelled before by an Irish whiskey drinker.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma: Opens with confected aromas of vanilla maple syrup, sticky toffee pudding and candied fruit. Slight hints of coffee beans are set aside by the oak wood undertones before being reminded of banoffee pie and tropical desserts.

Palate: A velvet soft, toffee rich mouthfeel gives way to notes of caramel coated nuts and butter baked biscuits. Sweet malt and rum spices then demand your attention as exotic fruit notes push to the forefront of your palate.

Finish: An amazingly complex finish with lingering nutmeg spices and dried sultanas fading out before being left with the oak wood undertones that characterised this whiskey for the first 18 years of its life.
